To prepare the senior pupils for their Canoeing lessons on the Grand Canal, coaches Ciaran and Graham from the Celbridge Paddlers Canoe club gave a presentation on the sport today. Detailing how the local club was founded in 1982 the coaches went on to highlight some of the many achievements of the club in its 33 year history. The explained the differences between Canoeing and Rowing to the boys as well as illustrating the many different disciplines there are in Canoeing.
For parents of boys wishing to take up Canoeing more information can be found on the Celbridge Paddlers website or on the clubs Facebook page. The slideshow presented to the boys today is worth checking out and I have added it on the page below.
Next Thursday promises to be a day the boys will remember for a lifetime. Hopefully as has happened during previous Active Weeks pupils will take up Canoeing and remain paddling long after they have finished in Scoil Na Mainistreach
