The Athletics session on the Track at Le Chéile AC in Celbridge became the first event of Active Schools Week 2015 to fall victim to the weather. Ms Holmes who has been arranging the event with Le Chéile has rearranged it for next Wednesday again weather permitting.
All was not lost however for the boys of 5th class. Mr Mulreid had planned for such an eventuality and had a full Athletics session ready for the boys in the school hall.
Below, 5th Class P upi l Alex Uzice expertly details their learnings during the Athletics lesson: ' On Wednesday 6th May the 5th classes were doing Athletics. We were learning how to sprint which was harder than it looked. In order to sprint you must have good posture. Your back must be straight and you must also look straight ahead. Tighten your stomach a tiny bit and have your arms at a 90 degree angle. While you're running use the opposite arm to the opposite leg, example right arm up left leg up. Some of the games were races. If you were ever in a big race this would be good practice.'
Pictures of the action packed session can be seen below and more will be added when the boys hit the track at Le Chéile next week. Thanks to Mr Mulreid for a very enjoyable few hours for the boys and we look forward to better weather next week.
