A new school fitness resource has been launched in 4th class during Active School Week. 4th class boys have signed up to Fit4Skool, a new, innovative online resource to increase physical activity and healthy eating in school, to the end of the school year.
Some of the aims of the Fit4Skool program are to
· Improve the health and fitness of students
· Provide measurable outcomes of physical fitness, skill development and movement
· Allow students the opportunity to have ‘fun’ while reaching the r.d.a for physical activity and in building positive life habits
The boys have each been given their own Activation Codes to register on the Fit4Skool website. Once registered the boys are free to navigate their way around the site visiting the 3 zones,
Action Zone: containing energisers, fit tasks, stretches, warm up games etc,
Healthy Eating Zone: information on fruits, vegetables, recipes etc.
Challenge Zone: challenges in aerobic, muscular, locomotor and skill.
Boys will receive points in each of the zones and at the end of the year a certificate showing their points and scores in challenges.
One challenges that has caught the imagination in class so far is the Keepie Uppies challenge. Boys are continuously trying to beat their own record for Keepie Uppies in 30 seconds. Boys are building on their previous attempts, developing a skill and importantly having fun. Many more exciting challenges lie ahead over the next 2 months.
