Today we had a Skype call with Eliud Too and his coach James Walters. Eliud won the Dublin Marathon last October and 3 days before that race he visited us in Scoil Na Mainistreach.
They are currently in camp in Iten, the famous town in Kenya where the top Kenyan athletes train. They took us on a Skype tour around the training camp to see their training facilities. On the tour we were introduced to other athletes Bernard Kiptum, Robert Kaptingei and none other than Alex Too, younger brother of Eliud who is also training in Iten and will make his international debut in a few years.
The boys in Rang4SnaM had many questions prepared for Eliud. He told us about winning the Dublin City Marathon, the celebrations, his plans for Spring time running in America and how he is hopeful of running in future Olympics.
Conor outlined our Lillywhite Laps running programme to Eliud and on his signal we were able to launch it on our class website.
We said our goodbyes for the time being and we very much look forward to following Eliuds progress through 2015 and speaking to him again sometime before the summer.
