Yesterday we started our Art lessons with Rachel and Sharon from the local Abbey Art Group. Our first paintings were landscape paintings of the field in front of Castletown House. We are very pleased with how they look.

Louder than a Clap of Thunder!
by Jack Prelutsky Louder than a clap of thunder, louder than an eagle screams, louder than a dragon blunders, or a dozen football teams, louder than a four-alarmer, or a rushing waterfall, louder than a knight in armor jumping from a ten-foot wall. Louder than an earthquake rumbles, louder than a tidal wave, louder than an ogre grumbles as he stumbles through his cave, louder than stampeding cattle, louder than a cannon roars, louder than a giant's rattle, that's how loud my -------- SNORES! The New Kid on the Block; Greenwillow, 1984 Chapter Four: The Great Outdoors
1 Was it a good idea to take Little Bull outside? 2 Do you think bringing the horse to life was a mistake? 3 Did Omri make the right choice in bringing the World War I medic (Tommy) to life? Chapter Five: Tommy 1 How does Omri deal with difficulties between Tommy and Little Bear? 2 Why do you think the toys have names? 3 Omri was kind and patient with most of the figures he brought to life. Why do you think he wasn't so careful with the knight? Today we made some tasty buns for the coffee morning. We made them with 250g of caster sugar, 370g of self raising flour, 5 eggs, a pack of raisins, 3/4 of a tub of butter and water.
We mixed them together in a plastic bowl. We put them in blue and dark blue bun cases to represent Dublin and red and green ones to represent Mayo. Then we put them in the staff oven for 15 minutes. Then we had one bun each and it tasted very nice and was very tasty. All Ireland fever has taken hold in Rang6 this week. Supporters of the Mayo and Dublin teams in the class are getting very excited. Three members of the class have Mayo Granny and Grandads! Together they have been working on a project on Mayo GAA. Below is their Powerpoint project. Click on it to open.
We're waiting on the Dubs in the class to produce their project on Dublin GAA. The Mayo contingent think they are getting complacent and hope its a sign for Sunday!
Today while having our lunch Pretham gave us a link to the below Youtube clip on crows and how intelligent they are. We enjoyed it and would like to share it with others. Answer the following questions based on Chapters 1 and 2 of our class novel
Chapter One: Birthday Presents 1. Omri was disappointed with the gift Patrick gave him. Why do you think Omri felt this way? 2. What would you do if one of your toys came to life? 3. Why do you think Omri kept the Indian, even after it injured him? Chapter Two: The Door Is Shut 1. Why didn't Omri tell his friend Patrick about the Indian coming to life? 2· Would you tell anyone about something this unbelievable? If so, who? If not, why not? ·3. Learn first 2 verses of the poem tonight The Sound Collector
A stranger called this morning Dressed all in black and grey Put every sound into a bag And carried them away The whistling of the kettle The turning of the lock The purring of the kitten The ticking of the clock The popping of the toaster The crunching of the flakes When you spread the marmalade The scraping noise it makes The hissing of the frying pan The ticking of the grill The bubbling of the bathtub As it starts to fill The drumming of the raindrops On the windowpane When you do the washing-up The gurgle of the drain The crying of the baby The squeaking of the chair The swishing of the curtain The creaking of the stair A stranger called this morning He didn't leave his name Left us only silence Life will never be the same Roger McGough Hello and welcome to our Blog.
