Once again we will be taking part in the Christmas Shoebox Appeal on behalf of Team Hope. Each year Mary Shaw who works in Scoil Na Mainistreach organises the appeal here and we have in the years to now sent over 1000 boxes to children in countries who would not normally receive a present at Christmas. Click Here to see the presents collected in previous years.

What is Diwali? Diwali is an Indian festival where you eat Indian sweets and light fireworks and candles. You light candles around your house on the stairs and tables and all. Why we celebrate Diwali? We celebrate Diwali because God Rama returns from his 16th years Banishment. I brought our school mascot along with me, Disco bear, I took him to my friends house and I took some pictures with him with some sparkles. The festival is really fun and we all were traditionally dressed. In these pictures I didn’t wear a traditional dress because I was over at my friends doing it. Here are some pictures below Next week we celebrate the schools 40th Birthday. Over the 40 years the school has built up a very strong tradition in music. That tradition continues today and music will play a key role in our celebrations. We got a chance to rehearse today with the school band and it was impressive. Watch below to find out!! 1. Do you see any similarities in the relationship between Boone and Little Bull and Patrick and Omri? 2. Why are Omri and Patrick worried about the rat being loose in the house? 3. Do you think becoming blood brothers will stop the fighting between Little Bull and Boone? 6th Classes will be learning the two songs Best Day of My Life and Green Days Good Riddance (Turning Point) for the Schools 40th Birthday celebrations next week. The Lyrics of both can be found by clicking on the files below. To help learn the songs there are YouTube links to both songs for boys to sing along to.
Excitement is building in Scoil Na Mainistreach as the countdown begins to Sundays County final. Bhí Séan ar scoil, Go moch inné, Is d’fhan sé ann, I rith an lae. Bhí sé ag scríobh, Is bhí sé ag léamh, Ach chaith sé uair, Amuigh faoin aer. D’ith sé arán, Is d’ól sé tae, Nuair a fuair sé sos, I lár an lae. Amach ar an mbóthar, Ar a trí. Is rith sé abhaile, Mar an ghaoth! Chapter Nine: Shooting Match
1. What would you do differently to make sure Little Bull and the cowboy wouldn't fight during the night? 2· Little Bull and the Cowboy don't know each other, but they want to kill each other. Why do you think they feel this way? 3· Why does Little Bull want to go to school? Chapter Ten: Breakfast Truce 1. How does Omri bring about a truce between Boone and Little Bull? Was it a good plan? 2 Why does Omri let Little Bull and Boone fight without weapons? 3. Would you have taken both of the live figures to school? Why or why not? We are very lucky in Scoil Na Mainistreach to have on our doorstep a site of such historical significance as Tea Lane Graveyard. We are also lucky that in the community of Celbridge there are so many dedicated and willing volunteers who have put so much work into the restoration of the church, the graveyard and the Death House. One such volunteer is Breda Konsidine who over the last 2 weeks has taken the time to bring the boys on a guided tour of the site and to explain in great detail the history of the site. It was a wonderful experience for the boys and has opened up a window into the past of the historical town they live in. Many thanks to Breda and also Nicky who was on hand on Day 2 of our visit to provide some much needed refreshments to the young historians! Boys have been working very hard on some Tea Lane Graveyard projects which will be added below under the gallery of pictures over the coming days. Joe Condon Tea Lane Project
