Having composed their own Christmas Song over the last few weeks, the boys were invited to KFM to perform it live on Friday. Ben was interviewed by Ciara from the station and represented the school brilliantly. Féach ar mo chrann Nollag
Isteach sa seomra suí, Glas, dearg, oráiste agus buí, Is aoibheann liom an spraoí. Ba mhaith liom an t-aingeal a chroch suas, Ach tá mé níos ísle ná é, Suas ar an gcathaoir liomsa, Ar dheis no no ar chlé. Féach ar mo chrann Nollag, Isteach sa seomra suí, Cloiginí, tinseal, maisiúchán, Is aoibheann liom an spraoi.
This is the draft of the music for the boys Christmas Song 2018. They have been working on composing a Christmas Song since last week. Tonight they will add words to this piece of music, composed by the boys with the help of Mr Mescal and Mr Bermingham.
Dewali is known as the festival of light. The word Dewali means ‘the row of lamps’. This festival signifies the victory of light over darkness. In Dewali we pray and honour Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth and prosperity. This festival also marks the return of Lord Rama and Sita after completing 14 years of exile. We eat certain foods during the celebration of Dewali, such as Indian sweets and savoury snacks. These sweets and snacks are handmade by each family and shared and exchanged between family and friends on the day of the festival. They are also used as offerings to the Goddess Lakshmi. In Dewali people decorate their houses and light up clay lamps and place them around the outside of their homes. Rangoli is a type of decoration that is done by hand both inside and outside their homes. Rangoli is also a poplar Dewali tradition. Rangoli is basically powder but comes in many colours.
